Do Crypto Cards Require KYC? What to Know Before You Apply
If a card provider skips identity verification entirely, that's a red flag, not a convenience. Here's why KYC (Know Your Customer) exists on a real card product, and what it actually looks like on CasperCard. ## Why identity verification isn't optional on a real card A card that moves real money through a real payment network -- Visa, in CasperCard's case -- is subject to the same financial regulations as any other card product. Identity verification is what lets a provider legally issue a working card at all, not an extra hurdle bolted on top. ## What it actually protects KYC isn't just a compliance checkbox -- it's the same mechanism that keeps your card details locked to only you. On CasperCard, full card number and CVV access requires that same verified identity, every time, which is also what stops anyone else, including CasperCard admins, from ever seeing them. ## What to expect during verification It's a one-time step during signup, not a recurring hurdle: provide standard identity information, and once it clears, you're verified going forward. It typically takes minutes, not days. ## Be skeptical of cards that skip it A provider advertising "no verification needed" for a real spending card is either not actually issuing a regulated card product, or is cutting a corner that will eventually cause a problem -- a frozen balance, a card that stops working, or worse. Treat that as a warning sign, not a feature. ## The trade-off is worth it A few minutes of verification buys you a card that actually works everywhere Visa is accepted, with your details protected from everyone but you. Start the process yourself and see exactly what's asked for.
